Recycle a Bicycle

A project of the Meridian Solid Waste Advisory Commission and Republic Services with support from the Meridian Community Recycling Fund.

Recycle a Bicycle connects refurbished bicycles with riders.   Gently used bikes have been rescued by Republic Services. Through a partnership with the Meridian Solid Waste Advisory Commission and the Meridian Community Recycling Program, bikes will be repaired and put back into working order.    Bikes of all shapes and sizes are available - from big to small.  There are year-round benefits to unplugging and riding a bicycle. If you need a bicycle, we can help.

This year we will be re-homing another 40 bicycles.  The majority of the bikes are sized for younger children, but youth of all ages and adults needing a bicycle are encouraged to sign up.  The program is free, but applications must be submitted by 5 pm on Saturday April 20 to participate.

This is “first come/first serve” application process.  You will be contacted by April 29 if you've been selected – not every submission is guaranteed a bicycle.    Meridian residents will be given priority.

Bicycle pick up is on Saturday, May 4 in Kleiner Park during Unplug and Be Outside Kick Off event in Kleiner Park.  If you are selected you will be called to schedule a pick up time. For questions regarding the Recycle a Bicycle program, call David Miles at (208) 489-0383.

The 2019 application process is closed.
