Frequently Asked Questions:

Is this a good teen hangout?  If I drop off my kids, will s/he be supervised?
Sorry, we do not have the staff available to supervise youth.  Please, do not drop kids off at movie night without accompanying them. Teens who are loud or disruptive will be asked to leave.   If guests who are asked to leave do not exit the park, they are subject to a $50 trespassing citation from the Meridian Police.

What time does the movie start?
We don't have an exact time when we will hit the play button each week;  instead we wait until it's dark enough to see the movie clearly. Typically it's about 20 minutes after sunset.

What time can I set up?
You are welcome in the park at anytime.  But, most folks set up their chairs and blankets after 6:30pm so they have a good idea where the line between the high back and low back chair seating is located.

Can I bring tall, camping style chairs?
Tall camping style chairs we welcome in designated areas.  Mostly, that means the back and side areas.

Are there any other things to do in the park before the movie starts?
Yes!  There are so many things to do in Settlers Park before the movie starts!  First, each Friday night our sponsors bring a variety of fun activities.  I enjoy making groovy tunes in our Sound Garden.  Most kids (and some  adults) can be found cooling off in the Slash Pads.  Grab a gelati from the concession stand.  It's ice cream layered goodness in a cup!  Or, just sit and breath the fresh air.  We support relaxing in all it's forms.

Can I bring food into the park; can I buy food in the park?
You are more than welcome to bring your own picnic!  Please be aware, alcohol is not allowed in the park at anytime.  Settlers has a concession stand and often we have food trucks on site.  Check our movie night Facebook page for weekly updates.

How is this amazing event free to attend? Who can we thank for making it happen?
It takes a village to create a movie night.  It is the vision and production of the Meridian Parks and Recreation staff.  Add to that a plethora of local businesses including  Sparklight - our title sponsor for all 15 years.  Mix in a dash of volunteers and you have amazing summer tradition.   If you enjoy the evening, be sure to tell them!

Parents  - If your tweens or teens plan to attend the free Friday night movies in Settlers Park this summer, be aware that once the movie begins, they must remain within the event boundaries to quietly enjoy the movie. Anyone being loud or disruptive may be asked to leave the event. Because the remainder of the park is closed after dark by city ordinance, those asked to leave the event will need to immediately vacate the park premises entirely or risk receiving a $50 trespassing citation from the Meridian Police. Your cooperation will help us ensure an enjoyable movie night experience for everyone.
